About The Position

Provide quality learning opportunities that assist students in meeting their educational goals and career aspirations. Faculty are responsible for the quality of the educational program. This role involves teaching classes and labs, instructing students on the use of shop equipment, and maintaining a working knowledge of welding symbols and specifications. The instructor will collaborate with other faculty and the program chair in curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation, ensuring adherence to the common course library and integrating market needs and advisory committee recommendations. Responsibilities include preparing and distributing course syllabi, implementing active learning techniques, focusing on student learning outcomes, and accommodating individual student differences while maintaining academic integrity. The role also involves performing administrative duties such as holding office hours, advising students, recording student data, participating in college committees, and assisting with recruiting and new course development. The instructor may teach day or evening classes and is expected to be on campus for a minimum of five office hours per week, in addition to attending mandatory meetings and campus activities.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Welding Technology
  • 3 years of welding experience
  • Working knowledge of welding symbols and specifications.

Nice To Haves

  • 3-5 years of welding experience
  • 1-3 years of teaching experience

Responsibilities

  • Teaches classes and labs including MIG, TIG, & Stick welding.
  • Instructs students on the use of shop equipment.
  • Collaborates with other faculty and program chair in development, implementation, and evaluation of the program curriculum.
  • Responsible for the course content and flexible sections and content of the syllabi for all courses assigned.
  • Follows the course description set forth in the common course library, integrating advisory committee recommendations and needs of the market place.
  • Arranges for the acquisition and/or preparation of materials and equipment necessary to meet the course objectives.
  • Maintains order of classrooms and labs.
  • Ensures proper storage of materials and equipment at the end of each lab session.
  • Prepares, distributes, and reviews with the student the first week of class a course syllabus that outlines clear and reasonable learning outcomes and expectations.
  • Implements active learning techniques and uses a variety of learner-centered instructional strategies.
  • Focuses on student learning outcomes taking into account the needs and abilities of the students and the mission of the college.
  • Is familiar with academic and social supports that benefit diverse groups.
  • Is supportive of students’ educational goals and makes reasonable provisions to accommodate their individual differences while maintaining the academic integrity of the college.
  • Works with students, peers, and administrative and support staff in a professional manner.
  • Posts and maintains office hours as stated in the faculty handbook.
  • Is available for student appointments for advising and assisting students in achieving their educational and vocational goals.
  • Is prompt and accurate in the recording and reporting of student data information to include enrollment reports, final grade reports, and book orders.
  • Serves as an academic advisor to students.
  • Assists in the registration and orientation process.
  • Participates in college committees as elected or assigned.
  • Submits leave reports, time sheets, and other required paperwork by established deadlines.
  • Participates in professional development activities as deemed necessary by supervision.
  • Assists in recruiting activities when assigned.
  • Assists part-time instructors when requested.
  • Works with the community in meeting the educational needs of our service area.
  • Teaches day or evening classes as required.
  • Assists in new course development as needed.
