About The Position

CIMT College is seeking an individual to supervise students in their Personal Support Worker - Clinical program, which is registered with the Ministry of Colleges and Universities. The role requires adherence to CIMT College's policies and procedures. All courseware, resources, evaluations, and daily lesson plans are provided in an Instructor Manual. The Instructor is responsible for following these manuals and using the provided resources to train students, equipping them with the necessary knowledge and skills for employment in the field. CIMT College emphasizes professional conduct, excellence in classroom instruction, and a primary focus on hands-on training.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and database systems
  • Excellent oral and written communication to present information in a way that students will understand as well as adapt to the different learning styles
  • Professional business attire and interpersonal skills to act as a mentor and role model
  • Minimum 36 months of work experience in the same vocation (PSW/RN/RPN)
  • Must be a Personal Support Worker with a college certificate and a NACC certificate from a PSW program, post 2015 OR active RN/RPN registered under CNO
  • Must have a valid proof of Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Must have a valid proof of clear TB test result
  • Experience required in a Canadian clinical environment, preferably in a long-term care/hospital/community/chronic care setting as a Personal Support Worker / RN/ RPN active under CNO
  • Hold a Bachelor degree from a Canadian university or an equivalent degree/Graduate of a College of Applied Arts and Technology or equivalent/ Graduate of a registered OCC or equivalent
  • Meet Instructor qualification standards as outlined in the Regulations to Ontario Career Colleges Act, 2005
  • Must be available to teach in assigned Clinical Facility as per the accepted schedule

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a thorough and accurate knowledge of the field
  • Instruct curriculum using only pre-authorized and provided materials
  • Teach students using a diverse and systematic plan of lectures, presentations, demonstrations, discussion groups, laboratory work, case studies, independent or group projects
  • Employ appropriate adult teaching and learning strategies to communicate the subject matter to diverse students
  • Administer and mark quizzes, assignments, exams and/or other assessments to monitor and evaluate students’ progress according to guidelines and procedures
  • Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently and return student marks promptly
  • Provide feedback on student performance
  • Arrange feedback from students on the instructor, content, and facility at the end of each course
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to student needs and individual circumstances in a multi-cultural environment
  • Resolve student complaints and concerns with a positive and professional attitude
  • Maintain attendance records accurately
  • Assure that classrooms are left in a clean and orderly fashion at the end of class without loss of or damage to equipment or other resources
  • Provide support to the admissions team with potential students who have questions about the program or future career
  • Participate in scheduled meetings and annual events like graduation
  • Maintain confidentiality of student privacy and information
  • Stay current in the subject matter through professional development
  • Display an attitude of teamwork and problem solving
  • Perform other related duties as required
