About The Position

The School of Kinesiology at Ball State University is seeking part-time semester instructors who are qualified to teach face-to-face or online courses in one or more of the following disciplines: aquatics, exercise science, physical education, sport administration, sport and exercise psychology, biomechanics, athletic coaching education, exercise physiology, or athletic training. This is a temporary position for 1-6 credit-hours per semester. Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship. The applicant pool will be used for up to one year from the posting date to hire individuals.

Requirements

  • For undergraduate classes, earned master's degree from an accredited college or university by time of appointment in aquatics, exercise science, physical education, sport administration, kinesiology, health education, or closely related field (must have a minimum of 18 credit-hours of graduate courses in the relevant discipline); for graduate classes, must have earned a terminal degree from an accredited college or university by time of appointment (unless approved through our School's approved tested experience policy).
  • Current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses from one to three credit hours each.
  • Create a standardized syllabus.
  • Be available to students.
  • Manage Canvas course site and submit grades.
  • Develop and manage syllabus materials.
  • Select and compile tests, assignments and/or online discussion exercises that permit measurement of performance relative to course learning objectives and student learning outcomes.
  • Coordinate courseware and curriculum with the Program Coordinator.
  • Review any textbook and other courseware changes with the Program Coordinator and other full-time faculty teaching the course.
  • Facilitate class instruction.
  • Teach the assigned class in accordance with learning objectives and student learning outcomes.
  • Administer evaluations of student performance based on course deliverables and course rubrics.
