Graduates of NorQuest College’s Practical Nurse program are difference makers in terms of the health care that Albertans receive. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing or Diploma in Nursing with a degree in a related applicable health field is required.
  • CRNA or CLPNA registration in good standing
  • At least 5 years of full-time clinical nursing or nursing education experience (or the equivalent in part-time experience)
  • Current BLS, WHIMIS, HBPE, It’s Your Move, N95 Mask fit.
  • Clear Police Information Record and Vulnerable Sector Check

  • Previous formal or informal teaching experience is an asset.
  • Application of equity, diversity, and inclusion in practice.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to teach individuals at different skill levels.
  • Ability to establish and maintain an interactive learning environment with skill practice and be able to apply the basic principles and practices of adult education.
  • Ability to evaluate student performance through various academic methods.
  • Advanced skills in conflict resolution and problem solving.
  • Ability to develop different classroom strategies to keep learners engaged.
  • Strong oral communication and writing skills.
  • Passionate about Nursing and teaching technical skills to individuals interested in joining the Health Care industry.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver instruction in theory, lab, and clinical settings across diverse healthcare environments using in-person, online, and online-line real-time formats, including day, evening, and weekend assignments.
  • Plan, develop, and adapt instructional materials and teaching methods to meet learning objectives, accreditation standards, and student needs.
  • Ensure students acquire the knowledge, skills, and professional attitudes required for safe and competent practice.
  • Provide skill demonstrations, supervise practice, assess competency, and deliver formative and summative feedback in accordance with program and college policies.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support students during clinical experiences, maintaining accurate grades, records, and reports of student progress.
  • Foster a supportive, inclusive learning environment that promotes equity, diversity, student engagement, and success.
  • Demonstrate professional conduct and adhere to health and safety, program, and institutional policies, maintaining all required professional certifications.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, committees, and program initiatives, and travel within the Greater Edmonton area as required for clinical instruction.
