About The Position

The Medical College of Wisconsin and Children’s Wisconsin are hiring for a one-year Instructor (Postdoctoral Fellowship) in Pediatric Psychology and Developmental Medicine, focused on psychological testing and therapy for neurodevelopmental concerns, primarily autism. The fellow will provide clinical services to child development patients and their families on the Autism Team, including psychological assessment and psychotherapy. Clinical work may include individual or group therapy, social skills groups, diagnostic evaluations, and consultation and liaison services to schools and community agencies. The fellow may collaborate with medical providers and other professionals, including speech and language pathologists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and dieticians. Opportunities to provide umbrella supervision to psychology trainees may also be available. One day each week is dedicated to professional development didactics, scholarly project activities, and administrative time. Clinical activities may vary based on the fellow’s interests. A typical week may include three to four autism-focused assessments, two to three individual therapy clients and/or social skills groups, two hours of supervision, one to two hours of didactic training, patient-care follow-up, and report and note writing. The Instructor appointment is intended to support transition to career independence. With a supervisor’s assistance, the fellow will develop professional skills, receive faculty supervision that supports professional development, establish an individual development plan, participate in a scholarly project, and attend a weekly professional development seminar. Fellows are provided compensation, health care, and other benefits commensurate with their status as members of the MCW community. Under supervision, the fellow will provide consultation, assessment, and intervention with children and families; serve on a multidisciplinary health team; attend meetings and collaborate with team members and staff; and complete a scholarly project aligned with career goals. Other duties may be assigned.
