About The Position

Each department at the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse maintains an ongoing search to serve as a pool of potential instructors for program needs. If hired from this pool, the instructor will be under the general supervision of chair. The instructor provides a variety of library services to graduate and undergraduates in the areas of teaching, learning, and public services to support creative exploration, intellectual growth, and scholarly pursuits. This position will be focused on teaching one-shot information literacy classes across various disciplines and other projects related to support information literacy instruction within the library department. Murphy Library is integral to student success at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. The library provides a dynamic and multifaceted learning environment centered on the core principles of service, stewardship, information literacy and equity of access. As a staff member, you will help provide many services and access to information resources that support and promote excellence in academic study and research, success in teaching and learning, and intellectual and cultural exploration. Murphy Library additionally serves the greater community as a regional information center. UW-La Crosse does not offer H-1B or other work authorization visa sponsorship for this position. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and maintain work authorization throughout the employment term.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a field relevant to the department's needs, usually an MLIS, or substantial progress toward a graduate degree in Library and Information Science.
  • Equivalent qualifications that support effective teaching in the position may also be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Develops instructional design and curriculum relevant to a course of instruction
  • Serves as an initial point of contact for students as it relates to specific course or series content and expectations
  • Facilitates classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses, including assessment of student performance
