About The Position

CIMT College is seeking an individual to teach their Paralegal program, which is registered with the Ministry of Colleges and Universities. The successful candidate will be responsible for adhering to CIMT College's policies and procedures. All courseware, resources, evaluations, and daily lesson plans are provided in an Instructor Manual. The instructor's role is to follow these manuals and utilize the provided resource materials to equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills for employment in the paralegal field. CIMT College emphasizes professional conduct, excellence in classroom instruction, and a primary focus on hands-on training.

Requirements

  • Lawyer or licensed paralegal in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
  • 3 years of working experience (except for non-substantive law courses)
  • 1 year of teaching experience
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and database systems
  • Excellent oral and written communication to present information in a way that students will understand as well as adapt to the different learning styles
  • Professional business attire and interpersonal skills to act as a mentor and role model
  • Meet Instructor qualification standards as outlined in the Regulations to OntarioCareer Colleges Act, 2005
  • Must be available to teach In Brampton campus as per the accepted schedule

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a thorough and accurate knowledge of the field
  • Instruct curriculum using only pre-authorized and provided materials
  • Teach students using a diverse and systematic plan of lectures, presentations, demonstrations, discussion groups, laboratory work, case studies, independent or group projects
  • Employ appropriate adult teaching and learning strategies to communicate the subject matter to diverse students
  • Administer and mark quizzes, assignments, exams and/or other assessments to monitor and evaluate students’ progress according to guidelines and procedures
  • Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently and return student marks promptly
  • Provide feedback on student performance
  • Arrange feedback from students on the instructor, content, and facility at the end of each course
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to student needs and individual circumstances in a multi-cultural environment
  • Resolve student complaints and concerns with a positive and professional attitude
  • Maintain attendance records accurately
  • Assure that classrooms are left in a clean and orderly fashion at end of class without loss of or damage to equipment or other resources
  • Provide support to the admissions team with potential students who have questions about the program or future career
  • Participate in scheduled meetings and annual events like graduation
  • Maintain confidentiality of student privacy and information
  • Stay current in the subject matter through professional development
  • Display an attitude of teamwork and problem solving
  • Perform other related duties as required

Benefits

  • Base Pay Rate CAD $25/hr - $32/hr
