About The Position

West Texas A&M University invites applications for the position of Instructor, Clinical Assistant Professor, or Assistant Professor (tenure-track) of Emergency Management Administration (EMA). This is an on-campus position with a start date in fall 2026. The ideal candidate will teach courses in emergency management administration and public safety management. These programs are currently 100% online, so preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate an acumen for and a desire to teach effectively and connect with students who are primarily non-traditional/professional in the remote environment.

Requirements

  • Applicants must have a graduate degree in Emergency Management or Public Safety Management. Graduate degrees in Public Administration, Political Science, or a related field are also welcome if there is a concentration or emphasis in Emergency or Public Safety Management. ABDs will be considered.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate a desire to excel in teaching, specifically online.
  • Ability to teach emergency management program-related courses in preparedness, mitigation, response, and recovery.
  • Ability to teach public safety management program-related courses.
  • Willingness to advise and recruit students.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional experience in the field of emergency management or public safety management.
  • Ability to teach public administration-related courses.
  • Ability to teach POSC 2305 (American National Government) or POSC 2306 (American State and Local Government).

Responsibilities

  • Teach in WTAMU’s online emergency management and public safety management programs.
  • Advise students
  • Participate in assessment
  • Contribute to the curriculum
  • Mentor students.
  • Other service activities are required.
  • Maintain an active research agenda in the field of emergency management or public safety management and engage in scholarship that contributes to their progress toward tenure.
  • Work with colleagues and administration to advance the mission of the Terry B. Rogers College of Education and Social Sciences.
