About The Position

The Nebraska Wesleyan University (NWU) Nursing Program has an opening for a full-time fixed-term Instructor/Assistant Professor faculty position with a start date of August 24, 2026. This person will primarily teach in the Pre-licensure BSN program. In collaboration with the Nursing Department Chair and Program Directors, this position will work with other nursing faculty to plan, implement, and evaluate nursing curriculum, meet accreditation standards, and manage clinical faculty as required. Final rank upon hire will be determined by the Provost commensurate with experience and education. In this 9-month per year teaching position, the successful applicant will have opportunities to create, manage and participate in a variety of learning environments and activities that provide opportunities for students to develop to their fullest potential and achieve their learning objectives. NWU's expectations for all faculty are to participate collaboratively and professionally with other faculty and staff to promote the general well-being of the department and the university and collective and individual interest of its staff and student body. Requirements

  • A master's degree in nursing is required; earned doctorate or near completion will be given preference
  • License to practice nursing in the state of Nebraska is required
  • Areas of practice expertise and/or teaching experience to include Pathophysiology, Pharmacology and/or Mental Health clinical instruction
  • Demonstrated commitment to student academic achievement
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a variety of constituents
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Classroom and clinical instruction are the primary responsibilities.
  • Develop and utilize a simulation, skills and laboratory environment to enhance student learning.
  • Plan, develop and present organized learning opportunities for students in accordance with approved course syllabi.
  • Assure effective and open communication at all levels of responsibility.
  • Provide out-of-class communication opportunities with students.
  • Participate in department, division, and college meetings as scheduled.
  • Participate in program advisory committees.
  • Represent the university to external clinical sites and constituencies as appropriate.
  • Maintain competency and currency in the subject matter of courses taught and in pedagogy.
  • Assume responsibility for the orderliness of the learning environment and the appropriate and safe use of instructional facilities and equipment.
  • Offer office hours and be available to students outside of scheduled lecture and labs
