Requirements

  • Master’s degree in English or a related discipline.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including individuals with disabilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
  • Applicants must be authorized to work full-time in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) or more years of teaching-related college-level courses and a minimum of 48+ credits.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience teaching First Year Composition, and Developmental Composition at the college level.
  • Experience teaching a range of courses, from developmental to college-level composition, as well as writing courses.
  • Experience supporting non-English language learners.
  • Experience teaching in community college.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish.
  • Experience teaching in multiple modalities (in-person, hybrid, and fully online), including use of an LMS such as Canvas or Blackboard.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and teach college-approved courses in accordance with approved course descriptions and class schedules, including developing syllabi and reading lists and keeping each course taught complete and up to date.
  • Respond to and work with multiple constituencies, including students, peers (faculty and staff), and external agencies (business, community, educational, etc.).
  • Perform divisional departmental responsibilities in the selection of texts and related teaching resources.
  • Teach thirty (30) credit hours per academic year and deliver a range of courses within the assigned discipline.
  • Evaluate and assess student learning outcomes.
  • Provide student support, mentoring, and academic advising.
  • Develop curriculum and periodically review and update instructional materials.
  • Assist with program reviews and accreditation-related activities.
  • Plan and execute program-related events.
  • Attend workshops, trainings, and/or professional conferences to maintain currency in the field.
  • Attendance and participation at convocation and commencement ceremonies.
  • Service on assigned committees and task forces.
  • Attendance and participation at committee, staff, informational, and professional meetings, which may occur during evenings and weekends.
