About The Position

Portland Community College's Nursing Program is seeking a 1-year temporary full-time instructor for the 2026/2027 academic year. The program is a regional leader in educating Registered Nurses and is looking for a faculty member with strong clinical knowledge and experience who can balance academic rigor with practical application and is passionate about teaching learners from diverse backgrounds. The PCC Nursing program is a member of the Oregon Consortium for Nursing Education (OCNE) and is located at the Sylvania Campus. The program values a learning community that is evidence-based, student-centered, and culturally sensitive, promoting curiosity and student success in a caring, safe, and respectful environment. This is a full-time, 1-year temporary position with excellent benefits, expected to begin in September 2026.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Nursing and maintain expertise in one’s areas of responsibility, have at least three years of nursing experience, and hold a current unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse in Oregon at the time of hire and be able to acquire a Washington RN license within 6 weeks of hire.
  • OR Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and maintain expertise in one’s areas of responsibility, have at least five years of nursing experience, and hold a current unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse in Oregon at the time of hire and be able to acquire a Washington RN license within 6 weeks of hire.
  • Current certification in CPR/Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers, or the ability to obtain it prior to the start of the term.
  • Instructors shall have earned required academic credentials at a regionally accredited US institution or a foreign institution having the equivalent of regional accreditation.
  • Instructors with credentials from other countries will have their transcripts evaluated by agencies that have good standing with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services to establish fulfillment of this standard.
