About The Position

Dominion Energy is seeking an instructor to support engineering training at either the Instructor (Nuclear) or Senior Instructor (Nuclear) level, commensurate with experience. The role involves developing instructional materials and conducting training for various technical training programs at the Company's nuclear power stations. An incumbent at this level should possess in-depth knowledge of instructional design theory and expertise in the technical area for which they are providing training. This role is responsible for analyzing, designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating training in the classroom, laboratory, and on-the-job. Additionally, the role is responsible for maintaining training programs in accordance with nuclear industry, regulatory, and legal requirements.

Requirements

  • Instructor (Nuclear): At least 5 years of experience (with a related Bachelor's degree) in the trade, craft or discipline for which they would train (prefer at least 4 of the 5 years of directly related experience in the applicable INPO accredited training program).
  • In lieu of the preferred related Bachelor's degree, will accept related Associate's degree and at least 7 years of experience as specified above or a High School Diploma/GED and at least 9 years of experience as specified above.
  • Fully qualified and proficient in the specific craft discipline for which they would train (e.g., Nuclear Plant Equipment Operator, Nuclear Electrician, Nuclear Instrument Technician, Nuclear Mechanic, Nuclear Chemistry Technician, Health Physics Technician).
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to prepare, present and practice job-related skills with class participants through the delivery and successful conduct of On-the-Job training and/or Task Performance Evaluations (OJT/TPE).
  • Must have led OJT/TPE modules for the specific discipline(s) for which they will conduct training.
  • Must have been observed and formally approved to conduct OJT and/or TPE for specific discipline(s).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with external stakeholders.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Good personal computer skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate various plant systems and controls as required for instruction.
  • Possesses some informal leadership skills.
  • Senior Instructor (Nuclear): 12 + years of related experience OR Certified Instructor (including 5+ years of experience) OR RO or SRO (including 5+ years of experience) OR Sr Instructor Training Cert from Dominion (including 5+ years of experience).
  • In-depth knowledge of instructional theory and design and SAT.
  • Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication, good personal computer, operate various instrumentation and controls, problem solving.
  • Abilities: Analyze and develop training materials, train and lead others, interface with regulatory personnel and industry peers, informal leadership skills, ability to effectively communicate with regulators.
  • High school diploma.
  • Related experience which shall include 2 yrs; Nuclear power plant experience to include 0.25 yrs.
  • Shall have demonstrated knowledge of instructional techniques through training or experience and be certified as a qualified instructor for the material being presented.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer at least 4 of the 5 years of directly related experience in the applicable INPO accredited training program.
  • Prefer in-depth knowledge of instructional design theory and SAT or ability to achieve this skill to progress in the job series above this mid-level role.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferred discipline).

Responsibilities

  • Develop instructional materials and conduct training for various technical training programs.
  • Analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate training in the classroom, laboratory, and on-the-job.
  • Maintain training programs in accordance with nuclear industry, regulatory, and legal requirements.
  • Prepare, present, and practice job-related skills with class participants through the delivery and successful conduct of On-the-Job training and/or Task Performance Evaluations (OJT/TPE).
  • Lead OJT/TPE modules for the specific discipline(s) for which they will conduct training.
  • Conduct training for licensed personnel on the simulator, holding or having held a senior operator's license or certified for equivalent senior operator knowledge.
  • Interface with regulatory personnel and industry peers.
