About The Position

The East Texas A&M University School of Music is seeking applicants for an Ad-Interim Instructor position (Tuba & Euphonium) to begin fall 2026. This is a 1-year full-time position, non-tenure track.

Requirements

  • Masters Degree in Music
  • Evidence of success as an applied teacher and performer, including significant performances in solo recital, chamber ensembles and/or in professional instrumental ensembles
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team of professionals
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Commitment to high quality teaching
  • Dedication to high standards and student success
  • Ability to multi-task and work well as part of a team

Nice To Haves

  • Completed (or ABD) Doctoral Degree in Music
  • Previous successful university level teaching experience
  • Evidence of experience recruiting, advising and retaining quality music students at the high school and/or college level

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and masters level applied lessons
  • Teach courses related to brass pedagogy and literature
  • Direct Tuba & Euphonium choir with possibility of additional chamber ensembles
  • Prepare syllabi & maintain updated course materials
  • Recruit undergraduate and graduate students in cooperation with the Director of Instrumental Activities
  • Work collaboratively with faculty and staff to implement departmental programs
  • Maintain knowledge and stay abreast of current trends in learning with research, best practices in teaching, and technological applications in the classroom
