About The Position

The primary responsibilities of the faculty are to teach and to develop the curriculum. This position is a Temporary Full-Time role within the Mechatronics department at the Main Campus. The faculty member will be responsible for creating and delivering learning experiences, employing effective teaching methods, assessing student progress, and cultivating an engaging classroom environment. Additionally, the role involves curriculum development, program review, strategic planning, and ongoing professional development. The instructor will also integrate educational technology, participate in college meetings and committees, maintain office hours, and perform other duties as outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Current criminal record/child abuse clearances will be required if offered the position.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Mechatronics, Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, Nanotechnology, Robotics, Controls, or a closely related field.
  • A minimum of three years recent work experience in manufacturing, industrial maintenance, electrical systems, fluid power, automation, or product development; OR a minimum of four years recent work experience in the above fields plus recognized industry credentials in areas of expertise.
  • At least three years of work experience must be within the last five years.
  • Must complete/meet training and credentials required from the Manufacturing Skills Standards Council (MSSC), National Coalition of Certification Centers (NC3), Manufacturing Skills Institute (MSi), FANUC or Universal Robots within 6 months of hire (or before teaching certain courses as indicated below).
  • MEC 100 & 102: MSSC CPT
  • MEC 107 & 109: MSi MT1
  • MEC 111: NC3 Introduction to Mechatronics and NC3 Industry 4.0
  • MEC 112: Universal Robots Core and FANUC Handling Tool
  • Current criminal record/child abuse clearances will be required if offered the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation & Controls, Robotics, or a closely related field.
  • Five years recent work experience in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing or automation.
  • Work experience that includes technical supervision, training and on-the-job instruction is strongly preferred.
  • Additional certifications from Siemens, Rockwell and Allen-Bradley are preferred.
  • Current instructor certifications from MSSC, NC3, MSi, FANUC or Universal Robots, including NC3 Master Trainers.

  • Create and deliver learning experiences that support students in achieving the learning outcomes outlined in the Master Course Syllabus.
  • Employ teaching methods to design and maintain an engaging and effective learning environment.
  • Assess student progress and provide feedback to promote growth and academic success.
  • Cultivate a classroom environment that reflects the college’s mission, values, and goals.
  • Participate in program and discipline activities related to curriculum development and implementation.
  • Contribute to program reviews and strategic planning by offering recommendations on curriculum, staffing, facilities, and equipment to support continuous improvement and future growth.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to deepen expertise in the discipline, enhance instructional strategies, and remain informed about emerging trends in education.
  • Effectively integrate relevant educational technology tools into teaching.
  • Participate in department, division, campus, and college meetings and committees, supporting institutional goals and initiatives.
  • Maintain weekly office hours as required by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
  • Perform other related duties as outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
