Requirements

  • Must have completed a Wisconsin Registered Apprenticeship in Machine Tool or Tool & Die OR Met Wisconsin State Apprenticeship standards in Machine Tool/Tool & Die
  • Must have 5 years (10,000 hours) of work experience in Machine Tool.
  • At least one year of experience must have occurred within the past 5 years OR Two years of teaching Machine Tool coursework at the post-secondary level within the last 5 years (1 year of teaching experience equivalent to 2 semesters full-time, or 4 semester part-time).
  • Must embrace and demonstrate Standards of Teaching Excellence and the MATC Career Essentials in development and delivery of instruction.
  • Experience with an Email system (Gmail, Outlook)
  • Experience with a voice mail system
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite/Google
  • Experience with Self-Service or other online information management systems used for student advising, student programs, grading, class schedules and rosters
  • Experience with Blackboard or other web-based course - management systems
  • Experience with technology-based instructional delivery systems including SMART symposium, interactive touch screen monitors, LCD projectors, DVD players and/or other classroom technology
  • Experience with emerging technologies (eg. social networking applications)

Responsibilities

  • Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching-related activities.
  • Manage the classroom/laboratory.
  • Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program evaluation.
  • Manage equipment, supplies and materials.
  • Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues.
  • Collaborate with the advisory committee in the program area.
  • Attend departmental and institutional meetings.
  • Promote the education/training program, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to market MATC.
  • Support student organizations and activities.
  • Develop relationships with business and industry.
  • Complete program evaluation and follow-up.
  • Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in the field.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Benefits

  • The starting hourly wage for all part-time faculty is $40 per course hour of teaching.
  • Part-time faculty are also compensated for an additional 45 minutes of time for each hour of instruction to cover office hours and prep time which is equivalent to $70 per hour.
