About The Position

Circuit Stream delivers hands-on learning experiences for youth and adults in technology, engineering, business, medicine and other future-focused fields. We partner with leading universities across North America to help learners build practical skills, confidence, and a clearer view of what comes next. We’re looking for a psychology practitioner, educator, researcher, or graduate student who can make complex ideas feel approachable — and create the kind of classroom where teenagers are excited to ask questions about how people think, feel, and behave. This is not a course built around memorizing theories and definitions. You’ll help students think like psychologists: observing behavior, questioning assumptions, evaluating evidence, discussing ethical considerations, and applying psychology to everyday life. Students will explore biological, cognitive, developmental, social, personality, and clinical psychology through discussions, activities, case studies, and simple investigations. You’ll also mentor each learner as they develop and present a Human Behavior Investigation based on a real-world psychological question.

Requirements

• You genuinely enjoy teaching teenagers.
• Psychology expertise matters, but the ability to connect with students matters more.
• You can explain complex or sensitive ideas clearly, responsibly, and without talking over your audience.
• You bring professional, academic, research, or substantial project experience in psychology or a closely related behavioral science field.
• You have completed or are pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, Behavioral Science, Education, or a related field. Equivalent professional, teaching, or research experience will also be considered.
• You understand foundational psychology concepts, including research methods, cognition, learning, development, personality, emotion, social psychology, and mental health.
• You can facilitate thoughtful conversations while maintaining an evidence-based, age-appropriate, inclusive, and non-clinical learning environment.
• You are confident presenting, facilitating discussion, managing a classroom, and keeping students engaged.
• You are dependable and prepared. You show up on time, know the material, and communicate early when something needs attention.
• You welcome feedback, adapt quickly, and care more about giving students a strong learning experience than doing things exactly the way you have always done them.
• A background check is required before working with youth learners.

Nice To Haves

• Teaching, tutoring, mentoring, facilitation, research communication, public education, or teaching-assistant experience is strongly preferred.
• A psychology educator, researcher, practitioner, graduate student, senior undergraduate student, or behavioral science professional who gets energy from helping young people learn.
• Someone who can be warm and approachable while still setting clear expectations and maintaining a focused classroom.
• A discussion-driven teacher who uses questions, demonstrations, case studies, activities, and examples — not just lectures.
• Someone who is curious about multiple areas of psychology and comfortable teaching a broad introductory course.
• A thoughtful facilitator who can handle sensitive subjects carefully without turning the classroom into therapy or presenting personal opinions as scientific fact.
• Someone who takes ownership of the full student experience, not only the content on the lesson plan.

Responsibilities

• Lead engaging, well-paced sessions for learners ages 13–18 using Circuit Stream’s Introduction to Psychology curriculum.
• Turn foundational psychology concepts into clear explanations, relatable examples, discussions, and interactive activities.
• Introduce students to major branches of psychology, including biological, cognitive, developmental, social, personality, and clinical psychology.
• Help students distinguish evidence-based psychological research from myths, oversimplifications, and popular misconceptions.
• Guide students in observing behavior, asking thoughtful questions, evaluating evidence, considering ethics, and analyzing ideas from multiple perspectives.
• Facilitate age-appropriate conversations about human behavior, mental health, individual differences, identity, and other potentially sensitive topics.
• Connect psychology to real-world settings such as healthcare, education, business, sports, law, technology, and research.
• Coach students as they choose a question, develop, refine, and present their Human Behavior Investigation.
• Create a respectful classroom environment where students feel comfortable contributing, disagreeing thoughtfully, and learning from different perspectives.
• Provide timely, constructive feedback on student participation, reflection journals, activities, and final projects.
• Prepare lesson plans and review course materials before each session so delivery is organized, accurate, and engaging.
• Communicate proactively with the Circuit Stream team about student progress, classroom issues, curriculum feedback, or anything that could improve the learning experience.
