About The Position

Kirtland Community College is seeking a Full-Time Faculty member to teach courses in its Industrial Maintenance and Welding programs at the Gaylord site. The primary focus of this role will be to contribute to the ongoing improvement and expansion of the Industrial Maintenance program. The successful candidate must possess strong interpersonal and technical communication skills to effectively engage with students, college staff, industry partners, and external agencies.

Requirements

Associate's Degree in Industrial Maintenance or a related field of study.
Five (5) years of related work experience OR Journeyman status in a related trade, such as millwright or maintenance mechanic.
Education, training, and/or work experience sufficient to effectively teach the following topics: Mechanical Drives – power transmission systems, V-belt drives, chain drives, spur gear drives, and multiple-shaft drives.
Education, training, and/or work experience sufficient to effectively teach the following topics: Fluid Power – hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including safety, circuits and schematics, pressure and flow, cylinders, valves, actuators, cylinder force, and airflow.
Education, training, and/or work experience sufficient to effectively teach the following topics: Pump Systems – centrifugal pumping systems, including safety, pump operation, flow rates, maintenance, and system design.
Education, training, and/or work experience sufficient to effectively teach the following topics: Welding – all processes.
Ability to clearly, understandably, and patiently explain technical information to students.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
College-level teaching experience in classroom and laboratory settings.
AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), or ability and willingness to obtain certification.
Proficiency with computer software commonly used in education, including Microsoft Office.
Experience using a learning management system (LMS) and/or teaching online courses.
Experience collaborating with industry partners to support curriculum development, workforce training, and/or program growth.
OSHA Authorized Trainer, or willingness and ability to become authorized.

Responsibilities

Prepare for and instruct assigned courses using appropriate learning experiences and materials that provide students with opportunities to meet course objectives and program goals.
Support student learning by meeting college requirements for the assessment of student learning.
Establish and maintain a professional environment conducive to student learning.
Evaluate student progress through day-to-day assessment, written examinations, and overall observation.
Provide students with timely feedback regarding their progress.
Actively support student success through guidance, advising, and assistance to individual students as needed.
Participate in professional activities including, but not limited to, curriculum planning, examination development, textbook selection, program evaluation and revision, and other professional planning activities.
Participate in the Student End of Course Evaluation process.
Maintain a program advisory committee in accordance with college procedures.
Provide opportunities for industry-standard certifications when possible and practical.
Submit grades according to college timelines.
Maintain an active program of professional development related to both individual and institutional needs.
Attend meetings as specified by contract.
Perform other duties as assigned.
