SOWELA Technical Community College is seeking an Instructor for Industrial Instrumentation and Electrical within the School of Industrial Technology. This is an unclassified, 9-month faculty appointment. The instructor will be responsible for facilitating student learning, providing effective instruction, and evaluating student performance. This role involves developing curriculum, lectures, and lab exercises, as well as organizing instruction in classrooms and laboratories. The instructor will also maintain campus hours, submit accurate student records, and advise students. A key responsibility includes monitoring follow-up data for student completions, job placement, and retention rates to ensure program effectiveness and compliance with accrediting agencies. The position requires staying current in the academic discipline through professional development, attending conferences, and maintaining necessary certifications. The instructor will also participate in college meetings, professional development activities, and local business/industry events. Adherence to all applicable laws and policies, including those of the Louisiana Community and Technical College System (LCTCS) and SOWELA, is mandatory. The role also involves utilizing advisory committees to ensure current industry practices are taught, maintaining relevant reference materials, and cooperating with other agencies to promote technical education. Maintaining a safe and secure classroom/lab environment, ensuring equipment meets safety standards, and requesting necessary supplies are also crucial aspects of the position. Travel for instructional purposes may be required.
