About The Position

This is an 11-month faculty contract position at Clovis Community College, requiring a physical presence on campus. The instructor will provide instruction leading to a Diagnostic Medical Sonography certificate and is responsible for the overall direction of the program. This role involves both theory instruction and supervision of clinical experiences, with an understanding of the community college mission and philosophy being critical for success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree
  • Current Diagnostic Medical Sonography license in New Mexico
  • Possess national certification in Abdominal Sonography
  • Minimum of two years clinical experience as a registered sonographer in the professional sonography field
  • Documented experience in supervision, instruction, evaluation, student guidance and in educational theories and techniques. This may include completed college courses, seminars, or in-service sessions on topics including, but not limited to, learning theory, curriculum design, test construction, teaching methodology or assessment techniques.
  • Strong commitment to quality teaching, student success, and academic excellence
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships with clinical partners.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and teach courses in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, including day, evening, and online formats, potentially including dual credit courses for high school students.
  • Consult with students during office hours and participate in orientation, registration, committees, councils, in-service, student advisement, and professional development activities.
  • Collaborate with the division to determine course content and curricula.
  • Fulfill all functions of a faculty member, including teaching, faculty service, assessment of student academic achievement, and professional development.
  • Participate in college-wide studies and projects.
  • Demonstrate or attain proficiency with instructional technologies such as personal computers, presentation software, computer-generated tutorials, and learning management systems.
  • Correlate didactic and clinical instruction, supervise and evaluate Diagnostic Medical Sonography students, provide student guidance, recruitment, program development, and public awareness.
  • Serve as Program Director, maintaining contact with program personnel, clinical sites, and students.
  • Maintain and document current licensing, certifications for personnel, program, and equipment.
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate Diagnostic Medical Sonography faculty.
  • Deliver well-prepared, organized, and clear lectures and activities for in-person and online formats.
  • Develop and submit course syllabi for all assigned courses.
  • Collaborate with department members and the Division Chair to develop and revise curriculum, select textbooks and equipment, create instructional materials, and ensure cohesive student assessment practices.
  • Establish and maintain an effective learning environment across assigned courses, adapting to diverse modalities.
  • Assess and communicate student proficiency in achieving course learning outcomes using course assessment practices.
  • Utilize technology, including Canvas, Starfish, MS Office, and the Internet, for instruction.
  • Provide students with timely and accurate information and feedback regarding their academic progress.
  • Maintain a daily on-campus presence from Monday to Thursday and ensure a minimum of 5 in-person office hours per week.
  • Perform all faculty responsibilities, encompassing teaching, faculty service, participation in in-services, evaluating student academic achievement, participating in professional development activities, and contributing to orientations, committees, councils, and other assigned duties.
