About The Position

The Full-Time Instructor of HVAC and Commercial Refrigeration provides classroom, laboratory, and hands-on instruction in HVAC and commercial refrigeration systems. Responsibilities include curriculum delivery and development, student assessment and advising, laboratory and equipment maintenance, and promotion of student success. The instructor prepares students for employment and advancement in the HVAC/R industry while maintaining alignment with current industry standards, technologies, and workforce needs. Faculty, whether designated as curriculum or continuing education, may be assigned instructional hours in either curriculum or continuing education courses as necessary to meet minimum workload requirements and institutional needs.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of organizational and management practices as applied to the planning, analysis and evaluation of programs, policies and operational needs.
  • Knowledge of pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes and regulations.
  • Knowledge of principles and procedures of academic and instructional program development and administration in the area of assignment.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of curriculum development and instructional strategies.
  • Knowledge of current trends, research and development in the area of assignment.
  • Ability to interpret and apply college goals, objectives, policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Ability to interpret and apply Federal, State and local policies, procedures, laws and regulations.
  • Ability to analyze problems; identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of goals.
  • Ability to effectively direct the provisions of the academic area to which assigned in support of the college programs.
  • Ability to gain cooperation through discussion and persuasion.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Ability to interpret and apply CFCC goals, objectives, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for: Making observations, Reading and writing, Communicating with others, Operating assigned equipment, Handling varied tasks simultaneously.
  • Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include the following: Standing or sitting for extended periods of time, Operating assigned equipment, Handling varied tasks simultaneously, Bending, stooping, climbing, or lifting up to 50 pounds.

  • Education or Certification(s) or industry experience in the field in HVAC/R

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver classroom, laboratory, and hands-on instruction in HVAC, commercial refrigeration, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and related technologies; develop instructional materials, lesson plans, assessments, and learning activities that support student success.
  • Evaluate student performance through assignments, examinations, laboratory activities, and competency-based assessments; maintain accurate and timely records of attendance, grades, certifications, and student progress.
  • Participate in the development, implementation, review, and continuous improvement of curriculum, course content, instructional methods, and program outcomes to ensure alignment with industry standards, workforce needs, and accreditation requirements.
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures; assess and monitor workload, administrative and support systems, and internal reporting relationships; identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and revise instructional materials, laboratory exercises, and training resources.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and effective learning environment by overseeing laboratories, equipment, tools, and training aids; ensure compliance with college policies, industry regulations, and applicable safety standards.
  • Advise and mentor students regarding academic progress, career pathways, employability skills, industry certifications, and transfer or employment opportunities within the HVAC/R field.
  • Assess material, supply, and equipment needs for the program ; submit requests for the ordering of supplies.
  • Help maintain an inventory of equipment and supplies.
  • Participate in the program efforts to recruit and retain students; coordinate the development, review, and revision of program publications, publicity and other community relations’ activities.
  • Work with industry partners and faculty to ensure our programs are teaching the most up to date techniques and the latest industry trends.
  • Serve on college committees, attend required meetings, participate in faculty development activities, and support departmental, divisional, and institutional initiatives.
  • Ensure the adherence to safe and appropriate work practices and procedures.
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
