About The Position

The Health Science/Medical Professions career pathway instructor will help students develop the professional and technical skills and knowledge required to explore careers in the medical field. This role involves connecting students to mentors, real client-based projects, and internships to enhance their learning experiences. The position is a 9.25-month contract (190 days) with a benefits package. Precise salary placement will be determined by experience and LRSD's salary placement guidelines. This is an EXEMPT FLSA position.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Technical Certificate or Associate's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Possess a state license as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Practical Nurse (PN)
  • Satisfactory work experience to qualify for a technical permit issued by the Arkansas Department of Education
  • Meet requirements to be employed as an adjunct instructor at a post-secondary institution
  • Strong knowledge of medical and health practices and procedures, terminology and ethics
  • Strong desire to expose students to career opportunities in the field

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain professional relationships with students
  • Facilitate project-based classroom as "lead learner"
  • Guide students on professional projects and industry certifications
  • Establish a professional business environment for the students
  • Collaborate with post-secondary institutions to meet requirements for students to earn concurrent credit
  • Communicate with medical and health experts to establish mentorships and internships for students
  • Speak to groups about other programs offered through Metropolitan Career Technical Center
  • Engage with professional organizations that promote medical and health careers
  • Follow district/school policies and procedures for grading
  • Maintain and sustain a strong local advisory group
  • Recruit students for the medical and health science career pathway
  • Attend required summer professional development provided by the district or the post-secondary institution
  • Job performance will be evaluated using the Teacher Excellence and Support System adopted by the Arkansas Department of Education and Little Rock School District (a. Planning and Preparation, b. Classroom Environment, c. Instruction, d. Professional Responsibilities)
  • Perform other related essential and/or secondary duties as assigned
