About The Position

The College of Southern Nevada is seeking a full-time, tenure-track Instructor to teach Veterinary Nursing courses in the Health-Related Professions Department. The successful candidate will understand the mission and philosophy of a community college and adapt to a flexible schedule across multiple locations, modalities, and times. Instruction is primarily in person, with possible online teaching. The instructor will work closely with the Veterinary Nursing Program Director and other faculty and staff to support student outcomes. This is a 12-month, Contract A position. Faculty on A contracts work year-round and accrue annual and sick leave. The position is contingent on ongoing and available funding. The role is under direct supervision, and assignments may be multi-campus with day, evening, and/or weekend classes.

Requirements

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree.
Must be currently licensed or obtain a license as a veterinarian in the State of Nevada.
At least two years of full-time professional experience as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in clinical practice or an academic setting.
Knowledge of course and classroom management.
Knowledge of general veterinary medicine procedures and techniques.
Ability to teach veterinary nursing in didactic, laboratory, and clinical settings.
Ability to work effectively with a diverse or multicultural student body and/or workforce.
Ability to adapt to multiple instructional modalities, locations, and schedules, including in-person and online instruction.
Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and program leadership.
Ability to maintain accurate student records and documentation.
Ability to participate in curriculum development and program accreditation activities.

Nice To Haves

Previous teaching experience in veterinary medicine.
Previous teaching experience in higher education.
At least one year of experience teaching at a community college.
Experience teaching or working with a diverse or multicultural student body and/or workforce.
Experience with curriculum development.
Experience teaching online courses.
Experience developing and implementing field trips for undergraduates to local or regional areas of interest.

Responsibilities

Advise students as needed.
Teach veterinary didactic courses and laboratories, and supervise students on clinical rotations as assigned by the Program Director.
Perform clinical duties as required in the CSN Veterinary Nursing Teaching Clinic.
Maintain student records, including grades, attendance, exams, assignments, and competencies.
Maintain current knowledge of general veterinary medicine procedures and techniques through continuing professional development.
Participate in AVMA-CVTEA accreditation activities supporting the continuing accreditation of CSN’s Veterinary Nursing program.
Participate in program, department, school, and college-wide committees.
Contribute to academic advising, curriculum development, and service to the institution and community.
