About The Position

Provides instruction of courses in Firefighter I & II certification, advanced fire and EMS programs including American Heart Association classes, according to state of Ohio and AHA approved curriculum. The instructor must be able to coordinate and evaluate student performance through various evaluation processes.

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent
Valid State of Ohio Firefighter II certification
Valid State of Ohio Fire & Emergency Services Instructor certification
Valid State of Ohio Fire Safety Inspector certification
Valid State of Ohio Hazard Recognition Officer certification
Valid State of Ohio EMS provider certification
Valid America Heart Associate Instructor certification
Valid Ohio driver’s license and ability to meet the College’s insurability requirements
Ability to determine needs of students and identify solutions
Possess knowledge of firefighting and/or EMS operations and training equipment
Ability to exercise sound judgement and discretion in the performance of duties
Ability to work independently as well as in small interdisciplinary teams
Ability to work with industry partners and governmental agencies
Ability to cultivate relationships and effectively collaborate with diverse groups of stakeholders
Team Player with a track record of leading and inspiring others
Ability to travel locally and regionally to locations of classes
Possess a solid commitment to providing excellent customer service
Possess excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Possess strong organizational and time-management skills
Ability to work accurately with great attention to detail
Possess basic-level proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint or equivalent software

Must reside in the state of Ohio and be within commuting distance of this work location/campus

Nice To Haves

Associate’s degree in related field
Experience in practical application of firefighting and fire training
Experience in practical application of EMS care and EMS training

Assists in updating, revising, and implementing curricular objectives and content
Fosters effective communication between students, staff, and administration
Collects and analyzes program and participant data to ensure programs meet industry needs
Performs other duties as assigned
