About The Position
As a Diesel Instructor, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the minds and skills of our students. Your expertise in diesel engines, diagnostics, and repair will be the guiding light that leads them to a promising career in many different industries. Universal Technical Institute is looking for an experienced medium/heavy truck technician who is seen as the "Go To" person for diesel-related questions and is interested in a leadership role. No prior teaching experience is necessary; the company will provide training for those with the drive, patience, and skills.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 3-5 years of practical work experience in the field
- ASEs are highly valued, but if not current, we will pay for you to obtain
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective connection with students and fellow staff
- A patient and empathetic approach to teaching, understanding that every student learns at their own pace

Responsibilities
- Create an engaging and inclusive learning environment where students can flourish, fostering their passion for diesel mechanics while imparting expert knowledge.
- Lead by example and provide practical demonstrations, ensuring students gain real-world experience in diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing diesel engines.
- Collaborate with the education team to enhance existing courses and develop new ones that align with industry trends and advancements.
- Guide and mentor students on their individual projects, encouraging them to think critically and find innovative solutions.
- Instill the importance of safety procedures and best practices to ensure a secure working environment for students.
