About The Position

Founded in 1968 to meet the post-secondary and continuing education needs of Cecil County residents, Cecil College has been serving the community and shaping its future for more than 50 years. The College is governed by a Board of Trustees appointed by the governor. The College’s fifth president, Dr. Mary Way Bolt, reports directly to the Board of Trustees. Cecil College is centrally located in Maryland’s most northeastern county, just one half mile from Interstate 95. It is easily accessible from Philadelphia and Baltimore, as well as from Wilmington, Delaware. With a diverse student population, Cecil College enrolls approximately 2,500 credit students and 3,400 non-credit students. The Workforce Development & Business Solutions Department is seeking a skilled Diesel Technology Instructor to deliver hands-on, industry-aligned training to eager, career-focused students.

Requirements

• Must believe in the power of sharing your knowledge, motivating others, and putting students first and must be passionate about training tomorrow’s workforce.
• ASE Certifications in medium and heavy-duty diesel equipment.
• At least five (5) years of related practical work experience and demonstrated skills in diesel vehicle maintenance, repairs and diagnostic tools.
• Excellent people skills.
• Must be a self-starter, creative in problem solving, exercise good judgments and ethics, and have superior customer service skills.
• Must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, or the District of Columbia.
• Must be currently authorized to work in the US, as the College does not offer Visa sponsorships.

• Teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach diesel repair and maintenance in accordance with industry standards using adult learning methodologies.
• Instruct, evaluate, and mentor students; administer tests to measure progress; track attendance and performance; and provide constructive feedback to support skill development.
• Direct and supervise students in the safe, proper use of tools and equipment in the shop environment.
