About The Position

The University of Akron is seeking two (2) Instructors for their Dance Academy. Successful candidates will be experienced in teaching dance to diverse students at all levels, use progressive pedagogy in teaching technique, and use sound anatomical and wellness principles in their pedagogy. Candidates should be able to teach all levels of dance, including contemporary, modern, and other forms. Additionally, applicants should be able to choreograph or restage work for student performers in on-campus concerts. Applications are encouraged from candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the dance program and university through their teaching and service. Successful candidates will be available to teach weekday afternoons between 4 p.m. - 8 p.m.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in dance or dance education.
  • Experience in teaching dance in a pre-professional setting.
  • Ability to teach all levels of dance.
  • Ability to teach contemporary and modern dance along with other forms.
  • Ability to choreograph or restage work for student performers.
