About The Position

Administers and manages activities within a specific area of a responsibility (CTE pathway/program). Serves as the subject matter expert and applies gained knowledge to execute, maintain and improve systems, programs, or processes in the secondary classroom. Instructors will teach diverse High School students career and technical education courses as outlined in the program of study. These courses are determined by the program approval which is approved by the Colorado Community College System. Instructors will teach students various careers related to the pathway they teach. Instruction will be real-world, hands-on, and project-based for authentic job related experience. Instructors are required to sponsor a Career & Technical Student Organization (CTSO) and maintain (with assistance) an Advisory Board for all program changes and updates. In conjunction with the Career Development team, instructors will assist with facilitating internships, job shadows, mentorships, college visits, and overall connections with Industry Personnel in the field. Business (Entrepreneurship) As part of the Management and Entrepreneurship cluster, the Business pathway is designed to develop student understanding of business practices and skills in entrepreneurship. This instructor will teach courses such as technological applications, business management, computer business applications (Microsoft Office), entrepreneurship, and accounting. Instructors may also teach courses from the High School of Business (HSoB) curriculum that may include Wealth Management, Leadership, Principles of Business, Principles of Finance, Principles of Marketing, Principles of Management, Business Economics, and Business Strategies. Must possess a CTE Authorization/License in the field of study according to CDE worksheets (CTE Business Authorization). May need to attend additional training for industry or curriculum during summer or school year.

Requirements

  • Must possess a CTE Authorization/License in the field of study according to CDE worksheets (CTE Business Authorization).
  • Bachelor’s degree or related industry credential.
  • Three (3+) years of professional industry experience in the content area within the past 7 years or in the time designated by the Colorado Department of Education.
  • Three (3+) years of experience working with diverse populations.
  • Must possess or have the ability to acquire appropriate secondary Career and Technical Education authorization/endorsement from Colorado Department of Education.
  • Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.
  • Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Concurrent Enrollment requirements - Masters degree or masters +18 hours in the appropriate content.
  • A program offering post-secondary credit may require the teacher to possess additional credentials specific to the organization or content.
  • May need to attend additional training for industry or curriculum during summer or school year.
  • Master's Degree in related field preferred in all content areas and required for certain content areas with college coursework.
  • Adjunct status with a community college in the content area, strongly preferred.
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish), preferred.

  • Help all students develop competence and confidence simultaneously through a balance of acquiring basic skills and developing conceptual understanding in the career field of study.
  • Monitor, supervise, coordinate and enforce rule of conduct and behavior for assigned students, and reinforce positive student behaviors in accordance with school and District policy.
  • Observe, evaluate, report and record students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
  • Communicate with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems.
  • Prepare educational lesson plans, course outlines, objectives and materials in order to meet state or college competencies.
  • Present subject matter using various teaching methods (e.g., lectures, project-based, industry related, problem solving) and technology in order to adapt to varied learning styles.
  • Counsel students to encourage and support student achievement and career planning.
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects and administer and evaluate tests and assignments.
  • Maintain program compliance with program approval, which includes serving as an advisor to the appropriate career & technical student organization (CTSO) and maintaining a program advisory committee.
  • Maintain and supervise use of any lab/technology equipment.
