About The Position

The Instructor/Counselor works as assistant manager for the ICF homes and will assist the Residential Manager in supervising a licensed ICF-IID program for individuals with intellectual disabilities, ensuring compliance with State License, Medicaid Waiver, ICF and CSB requirements, and Life Safety Code.

Requirements

High School Diploma / GED required.
Three years working with individuals with intellectual disabilities or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Ability to utilize a computer system for electronic health records documentation.
Effective communication skills; written, verbally, person-to-person and through use of the telephone.
Ability to drive and must possess a valid driver’s license.
Ability to lift and transfer consumers up to an average of 50 to 80 pounds.
Ability to participate in and successfully pass behavioral intervention training, including verbal de-escalation skills and physical skills techniques.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree in related human services.
Supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

Supervising a licensed ICF-IID program for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
Ensuring compliance with State License, Medicaid Waiver, ICF and CSB requirements, and Life Safety Code.
Assisting the Residential Manager in supervising ICF homes.
Safely assisting individuals with all aspects of physical management including equipment use, safe lifting and physical assistance.
Utilizing a computer system for electronic health records documentation.
Responding quickly to correct situations that are deemed to be hazardous to consumers and home.
Participating in and successfully passing behavioral intervention training, including verbal de-escalation skills and physical skills techniques.
Traveling to any Horizon worksite, transporting clients, and providing services at other locations.
Attending training and Horizon meetings which may require travel to various Horizon sites.
