About The Position

The Instructor/Counselor works as assistant manager for the ICF homes and will assist the Residential Manager in supervising a licensed ICF-IID program for individuals with intellectual disabilities, ensuring compliance with State License, Medicaid Waiver, ICF and CSB requirements, and Life Safety Code.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma / GED required.
  • Three years working with individuals with intellectual disabilities or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Knowledge of working directly with individuals with intellectual disabilities.
  • Ability and knowledge to safely assist individuals with all aspects of physical management including equipment use, safe lifting and physical assistance.
  • Ability to utilize a computer system for electronic health records documentation.
  • Effective communication skills: written, verbally, person-to-person and through use of the telephone.
  • Ability to drive and must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to lift and transfer consumers up to an average of 50 to 80 pounds.
  • Ability to participate in and successfully pass behavioral intervention training, including verbal de-escalation skills and physical skills techniques.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in related human services.
  • Supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a licensed ICF-IID program for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
  • Ensure compliance with State License, Medicaid Waiver, ICF and CSB requirements, and Life Safety Code.
  • Assist the Residential Manager in supervising the ICF homes.
  • Safely assist individuals with all aspects of physical management including equipment use, safe lifting and physical assistance.
  • Utilize a computer system for electronic health records documentation.
  • Respond quickly to correct situations that are deemed to be hazardous to consumers and home.
  • Participate in and successfully pass behavioral intervention training, including verbal de-escalation skills and physical skills techniques.
  • Work modified schedules (weekends, holiday, etc.) as required.
