The Instructor/Coordinator Trainee participates in a structured student–teacher model, supporting EMS education through supervised instruction, skills facilitation, and learner engagement while progressing toward Instructor/Coordinator licensure. The trainee operates under the direct oversight of a licensed Instructor/Coordinator and advances through defined competency-based phases prior to independent instructional responsibility. The trainee is required to obtain State of Michigan Instructor/Coordinator licensure within six (6) months of hire or within forty-five (45) calendar days of completion of an approved Instructor/Coordinator course, whichever occurs first. Progress toward licensure will be monitored throughout employment. Failure to demonstrate satisfactory progress or obtain licensure within the required timeframe may result in removal from the trainee role, reassignment, or termination of employment. MMR will pay for the trainee's initial I/C course and license. However, if the trainee requires several attempts to successfully complete the course, within the 6-month window, the trainee is solely responsible for the cost of any additional courses beyond the first course completed and paid for by MMR. If the student fails to successfully obtain An I/C license with the State allowed 3 attempts; the trainee is no longer eligible to remain in the position. Taking a state-approved refresher course isn't an option to remain in the trainee position, even if it's within the first six months of hire. The organization reserves the right to modify timelines based on operational needs, candidate performance, or program availability. An internal candidate must serve in the education division for 2 years after licensing as an I/C. Must be at least 18 years old.
