About The Position

Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) is seeking experienced, dynamic, capable, creative, and caring individuals to join its Faculty team. This is a full-time, probationary, tenure-track position for the Fall 2027 semester. The role involves providing classroom instruction in the Business Department, teaching courses such as Statistics, Quantitative Business Applications, and Business Math. The college is committed to building a culturally diverse and pluralistic faculty and encourages applications from underrepresented groups. Teaching assignments may include weekend, evening, and online components.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration (or other relevant graduate-level business degree) or Master’s Degree in Mathematics or Statistics from an accredited college or university
  • Daytime availability to teach on-campus sections
  • Experience teaching Statistics, Business Math and Quantitative Business Applications
  • Teaching assignments may include weekend, evening, and online
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restrictions
  • Appointment will be contingent upon completion of a background check

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience and/or a desire to engage in distance learning initiatives
  • Post-secondary teaching experience
  • Experience with online delivery systems (D2L Brightspace)

Responsibilities

  • Provide classroom instruction in the Business Department
  • Teach Statistics, including statistical methods used in the collection, presentation, analysis, and interpretation of data (measures of central tendency, dispersion, skewness, probability theory, distributions, hypothesis testing, chi-square, regression, correlation, and ANOVA)
  • Teach Quantitative Business Applications, including algebra-based calculations and analysis of business investment scenarios (simple and compound interest, annuities, present and future value, and conceptual investment analysis)
  • Teach Business Math, reviews basic arithmetic and algebra skills through factoring trinomials and applies those skills to topics including ratio and proportion; percentages; simple interest; commercial discounts and purchases and present value. Income statement calculations and analysis will include sales, cost of goods sold, markup, and operating expenses
  • Evaluate student performance
  • Participate in departmental, division-wide, and college-wide committees
  • Perform additional duties as specified in the faculty contract at the direction of the Department Chairperson
