About The Position

This position is responsible for providing effective instruction for assigned courses. The instructor will guide the class, maintain accurate records, prepare thoroughly for each instructional hour, and foster a safe and orderly learning environment. Responsibilities include grading student work, counseling students on their progress, developing classroom materials, and designing curriculum. The role also involves maintaining office hours, staying current with teaching methods and technology, using assessment techniques to improve learning, and potentially serving on college or department committees. Communication with other instructors to ensure course relevance and participation in graduation exercises are also part of the role.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in English OR a Master's degree in a related field with 18 graduate semester hours in English
  • A cover letter, resume, and unofficial transcripts must be attached with your online application prior to submission or submitted to Human Resources immediately upon completing the application.
  • Able to use a wide variety of teaching methods to promote learning
  • Be innovative, creative, motivated
  • Ability to exhibit good interpersonal skills and work well with others
  • Able to maintain records accurately and be able to meet deadlines consistently
  • Good organizational skills
  • Knowledge of and efficiency with technology and software including, computers, and web-based resources such as BlackBoard.
  • Able to perform normal duties with minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Demonstrates resourcefulness, initiative, enthusiasm, and a sincere interest in helping students reach their maximum potential

Responsibilities

  • Maintains communication with instructors from other divisions in order to keep courses up-to-date and appropriate
  • Participates in graduation exercises
