About The Position

To provide high-quality instructional interventions in academics that meet the needs of all students. The instructional tutor will work to ensure high levels of academic understanding and implementation with students. The instructional tutor will work mainly with small groups of students who demonstrate instructional needs. The instructional tutor will be responsible to develop lesson plans, familiarize themselves with the instructional materials available to them, facilitate learning, collaborating with teachers, and evaluating and assessing student performance. The instructional tutor will be responsible for collaborating with teachers and parents, interpreting student progress, and communicating this information to school staff and parents/guardians.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Canvas or similar platforms preferred.
  • Missouri Teacher Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop lesson plans.
  • Familiarize themselves with instructional materials.
  • Facilitate learning.
  • Collaborate with teachers.
  • Evaluate and assess student performance.
  • Collaborate with teachers and parents.
  • Interpret student progress and communicate this information to school staff and parents/guardians.
  • Demonstrates exemplary instructional practices and possesses a deep understanding of instruction for the purpose of providing effective best practices to improve student achievement.
  • Diagnose academic concerns in students and develop interventions to meet those concerns.
  • Regularly analyzes data and monitors student progress while delivering the focused intervention to students.
  • Participates in ongoing and job-embedded professional development for the purpose of gathering information related to student's academic achievement.
  • Uses a variety of manipulatives and hands-on activities to support content standards and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
  • Creates a classroom environment and research-based program of study that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Missouri Learning Standards of Mathematics.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Missouri Learning Standards of Reading.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
