About The Position

The purpose of the Instructional Tutor - In School Supervision is to enhance student achievement, health, and program needs. The Instructional Tutor will work in the In School Supervision room, implement lessons to meet student's instructional objectives under the direction of a classroom teacher, and collaborate directly with coordinators, interventionists, classroom teachers, and all stakeholders involved in developing student lessons. They will assist small groups and individuals with lessons, practice exercises, and monitor seat work for understanding. The role involves recording student progress for reporting, maintaining positive communication among students, parents, and school staff, and monitoring student progress in educational programs, relating findings to supervising teachers. The tutor will adapt, modify, and/or acquire instructional materials from supervising teacher(s), discipline students following district and/or individualized plans, and participate in staff development activities. The position requires working a flexible schedule as assigned, maintaining the confidentiality of student records and information, and maintaining an appropriate professional appearance.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Highly Qualified status under ESSA
  • Pass Work Keys or Praxis test, or 48 Semester Hours of College Coursework, or Associates Degree
  • Employee must complete a fingerprint-based criminal background check and must be cleared by the Office of Human Resources
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary

  • Previous experience working with Elementary Age Students in diverse populations
  • Experience working with large and small groups of students
  • Spanish speaking skills
