About The Position

The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) Office of Information Technology (OIT) is seeking an Instructional Technology and Events Coordinator to manage the daily operations of the David L. Call Alumni Auditorium. This role is ideal for an early-career technology professional who enjoys problem-solving, customer interaction, and supporting a variety of events and academic programs. The coordinator will be the primary resource for auditorium technology, event support, classroom operations, and customer engagement, aiming to create exceptional experiences for faculty, students, staff, alumni, guest speakers, and visitors. The position involves diverse daily tasks, such as supporting large symposia with live-streaming and lecture capture, assisting faculty with new instructional technologies, and coordinating student staff for high-profile events. This is a fully in-person, full-time position working 39 hours per week in Ithaca, NY.

Requirements

  • Formal training beyond a high school diploma of 1 to 2 years, 2 years of college coursework, or Associate’s degree or equivalent; more than 2+ years or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of analog and digital A/V equipment, including projection equipment, cameras, microphones, digital processing, mixing, lighting, sound re-enforcement, audio equipment and related presentation technologies.
  • Knowledge of standard business programs (Microsoft Office, Zoom, etc.).
  • Knowledge and experience with software-based web conferencing applications (Zoom, etc.).
  • Experience with software based (Panopto) lecture capture tools.
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent customer service ethic.
  • Experience incorporating the perspectives of multiple communities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on AV and technology support for classes, lectures, conferences, symposiums, and special events.
  • Proactively identify and resolve technical issues before and during events.
  • Partner with Cornell Information Technologies (CIT) and outside AV vendors to maintain and enhance auditorium systems.
  • Assist faculty with classroom technology and emerging instructional tools.
  • Manage a complex schedule of courses, lectures, and events occurring throughout the week, including evenings and weekends.
  • Coordinate with the Registrar's Office, University Scheduling, event organizers, and campus partners to ensure successful execution of events.
  • Use 25Live and other campus systems to schedule and support activities within the auditorium.
  • Hire, train, schedule, and supervise student employees.
  • Support a wide range of customers, including faculty, student organizations, administrative offices, conference organizers, and university leadership.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service while balancing policy, operational requirements, and customer needs.
