About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Farm Director, the incumbent performs technical and instructional support services for the Patton Family Sheep Unit. Responsibilities include assisting with daily sheep unit operations, livestock care and health, grazing and pasture activities, instructional laboratory support, maintenance of facilities and equipment, recordkeeping, inventory control, and providing day-to-day guidance to student assistants.

Requirements

Equivalent to three years of experience providing instructional support services for a related unit or discipline, or in producing materials or supplies or repairing equipment in a discipline related to specialty area to which assigned.
Equivalent to two years of college with 16 semester units in courses involving extensive use of materials, supplies, or equipment and in a discipline related to the area to which assigned may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
Equivalent to four years of college with 16 semester units in courses involving extensive use of materials, supplies, or equipment and in a discipline related to the specialty area to which assigned may be substituted for two years of the required experience.

Nice To Haves

Three or more years of progressively responsible sheep production experience.
Experience supporting teaching laboratories, undergraduate research, and/or extension style programs.
Experience with livestock management software and agricultural recordkeeping systems.
Experience working in a university, educational, or research farm setting.
