Working independently, under general direction of the College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Construction Management, the Instructional Support Technician II provides comprehensive services to support the day-to-day operation of the college's manufacturing laboratories, machine shops, and technical facilities located in Plumas Hall. The Technician works closely with the Department of Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing and will provide regular updates on technical, functional, and safety operations of shop facilities, machinery, and specialty fabrication equipment, and students and class projects. A primary responsibility includes overseeing and conducting comprehensive safety and operational training for students, faculty, and staff on all manufacturing equipment and manufacturing processes within the Plumas Hall labs. Additionally, the Technician recommends, sources, and purchases new equipment, tools, and materials; maintains records; coordinates equipment and facility maintenance; and trains/supervises student assistants. The Technician collaborates closely with the Department of Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) to ensure compliance with all safety regulations, including hazardous materials management.
