About The Position
The Instructional Support Specialist role at Devereux Day Academy in Landenberg, PA, focuses on supporting teachers in addressing the academic, social, and behavioral needs of students. This position involves assisting in the implementation of educational programming, providing one-on-one support, and reinforcing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) goals. The Devereux Day Academy is a private academic school program serving students in grades K-12 with emotional disturbances, behavioral and cognitive differences, autism, intellectual disabilities, and speech and language impairments. The curriculum is aligned with Pennsylvania Core Standards and aims to provide students with engaging learning experiences through differentiated instruction and evidence-based strategies, all guided by Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs).
Requirements
- High School Diploma required
- Previous experience working in a special education or behavioral healthcare setting with students with severe/complex behavioral/emotional issues preferred
Nice To Haves
- Associates Degree or completion of two years of post-secondary education from an accredited college or university preferred
Responsibilities
- Ensure the health and safety of the students
- Provide assistance with academic, social and behavioral needs
- Support the teacher and administration's direction while supporting youth and reporting progress daily
- Reinforce PBIS goals and objectives
