About The Position

The Instructional Support Specialist (ISS) role is a direct hire position focused on ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of students throughout the school day. This role involves assisting with classroom management, supporting students' academic, social, and behavioral needs, and working closely with teachers and administrators to achieve classroom goals. The ISS will provide daily support and documentation of student progress, reinforce positive behavior strategies, and assist students with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed. This position offers a unique opportunity to provide individualized support to students with intellectual and developmental disabilities and/or autism, contributing to a positive, structured, and supportive classroom environment.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Must be comfortable working directly with children and adolescents who may require behavioral and/or physical support

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's Degree or completion of two years of college preferred
  • Previous experience in special education, behavioral health, education, or working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred
  • Experience working with students with complex behavioral or emotional needs is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of students throughout the school day
  • Assist with classroom management and support students' academic, social, and behavioral needs
  • Work closely with teachers and administrators to support classroom goals and student development
  • Provide daily support and documentation regarding student progress
  • Reinforce positive behavior strategies and support PBIS goals and objectives
  • Assist students with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed
  • Provide individualized support to students with intellectual and developmental disabilities and/or autism
  • Help create a positive, structured, and supportive classroom environment
