About The Position

The Department of African American Studies at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Instructional Student Assistant Federal Work Study Pool. This is a pool of Instructional Student Assistants for the department to draw on as necessary. Appointments from the pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term. Applicants may be offered employment on very short notice.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled student at CSUF in good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
  • Must be proficient in foundational Ethnic Studies and introductory African American Studies provided at CSUF (AFAM/ASAM/CHIC 101 “Introduction to Ethnic Studies” and AFAM 107 “Introduction to African American Studies” respectively)
  • Working knowledge of Canvas platform and willingness to learn course specific software to better assist students
  • Ability to learn and perform assigned work
  • Candidates should demonstrate their ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, including first-generation college students.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior teaching experience preferred
  • Major or minor in the African American Studies
