About The Position

The Department of Communication and Media Studies has an opening for an Instructional Student Assistant (ISA) for the Fall 2026, COMM 100 (Intro to Communication). Under supervision, Instructional Student Assistants in this classification perform grading or tutoring duties for the majority of work hours in a given appointment in a given academic department or equivalent administrative unit over the course of an academic term. Assignments are made by academic department or equivalent administrative unit by a specific supervisor at a CSU campus. The work may be performed on-campus or at an off-campus public agency or private non-profit organization under an agreement with a campus in the CSU system. This position is limited to a maximum of 20 hours per week.

Requirements

  • Requires admission or registration as a CSU student.
  • Requires completion of COMM 100.
  • Ability to understand technical subject matters, including software, and to learn quickly under instruction/supervision by the faculty member.
  • Ability to learn and perform assigned work on time.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students.
  • Ability to accept responsibility.

  • Grade assignments, midterm and final exams for COMM 100, Intro to Communication, Fall 2026 (CRN 41124).
  • Grade exams and assignments, perform other instructional assistance duties as assigned.

  • Perform other instructional assistance duties as assigned.
  • Meet with professor virtually or in-person on an as needed basis to receive instructions and coordinate work.
