About The Position

The Instructional Specialist for State and Federal Programs will provide necessary assistance in developing, implementing, and evaluating the district's Title I, state compensatory education, and program reviews. This role involves supporting district and school sites with Title I and other state and federal categorical program procedures, assisting with Single Plans for Student Achievement (SPSA), and aiding with audits and Federal Program Monitoring. The specialist will also plan and deliver professional development, analyze data, prepare reports, and manage categorical budgets.

Requirements

  • Valid California Teaching Credential.
  • Successful experience in classroom teaching.
  • Knowledge of instructional programs and practices that facilitate student achievement.
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations for categorical programs.
  • Experience working with State & Federal Programs (i.e., Title 1 program procedures).

  • Must present verification of completion of Child Abuse Mandated Reporter training or obtain verification within six (6) weeks of hire and annually thereafter, as required by the California Child Abuse Neglect Reporting Act.
  • Assembly Bill (AB2534) and Senate Bill (SB848), mandates all certificated and classified applicants provide a complete and accurate list of every school district, county office of education, charter school, and/or state special school (Local Educational Agencies (LEA)) where the applicant has previously worked, regardless of the length of service, including full-time, part-time and substitute employment.

Responsibilities

  • Assists District and school sites in Title I program implementation.
  • Assists District and school sites in areas of state and federal categorical program procedures.
  • Assists in planning, implementation, and evaluation of activities related to site Single Plans for Student Achievement (SPSA).
  • Assists with audits and Federal Program Monitoring as required by California Department of Education.
  • Plans collaboratively and delivers professional development in the areas of state and federal programs.
  • Gathers and analyzes data and prepares reports.
  • Assists in establishing and maintaining organized and effective systems.
  • Attends state and federal program training as needed.
  • Develops and works with categorical budgets to include assistance with site planning, budget development and training.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
