The Instructional Paraeducator assists a certified teacher in providing instruction to individual or small groups of students, monitoring and reporting student progress. This role involves tutoring, reinforcing instruction, maintaining student progress records, participating in instructional teams, preparing and organizing lessons, administering and scoring tests, assisting with IEP implementation, monitoring and reporting student behavior, performing clerical duties, preparing instructional materials, operating audio-visual and educational training equipment, distributing and collecting supplies, overseeing students during activities, assisting students with physical tasks and personal care, providing emotional support and guidance, contacting parents, ensuring student health and safety, directing group activities, and participating in meetings and in-service training. The position requires the ability to communicate in more than one language or the willingness to learn at a novice level.
