About The Position

The Instructional Lab Aide – Nursing Program will provide support to the nursing skills lab instructors for NSG 143 and NSG 153 for student competency skills check-offs on the Prescott Campus, with periodic travel to the Verde Campus for student competency skills check-offs; gathering supplies and assisting the instructors with tasks and preparing the skills lab. This position also serves as a clinical instructor for students and provides supervision to students in both internal and external clinical placements.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing and at least of three years of experience as a registered nurse providing direct patient care.
• Must hold current license to practice registered nursing in the state of Arizona.
• Thorough knowledge and experience in technical procedures, supplies, and equipment in nursing practice.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to think critically and creatively, problem-solve, and coordinate activities.
• Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and schedule priorities effectively.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Knowledge of the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations by promoting and maintaining an inclusive work environment and culture that is respectful and accepting of diversity.
• Knowledge of MS, email, and the Internet.

Responsibilities

• Assist and support students in the practice of nursing skills and remediation activities under the guidance/direction of the nursing faculty.
• Provides student orientation to lab resources.
• Provides clinical instruction.
• Assists as needed in taking inventory of nursing skills supplies.
• Recommend, organize, and assist in gathering appropriate supplies for the skills lab.
• Assist the instructor in maintaining the skills lab for student skills practice, scenarios and sessions.
• Perform other related skills lab duties as assigned.
