About The Position

Do you have experience in law firms, corporate or academic environments and want to take your skill level to the next level? Then our Instructional Designer opportunity is the position for you! Benesch is looking for someone to work with our Professional Development team to support the firm's learning experiences to help our attorneys reach their professional goals. Under the direction of the Director of Professional Development and in close collaboration with Learning & Development Managers, the Instructional Designer supports the training and professional development of Benesch attorneys by designing processes and courses that promote impactful learning and retention. This role applies best practices in adult learning and instructional design to produce high-quality, engaging learning experiences. The Instructional Designer will work closely with Professional Development staff, attorneys, and firm leadership, and may frequently handle sensitive information. Professionalism and discretion are essential, as the role requires maintaining the highest level of confidentiality around personnel matters.

Requirements

  • The Instructional Designer must possess a bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience, with preference for experience in professional services such as law, accounting, or consulting.
  • 3+ years of experience in Instructional Systems Design (ISD), training development, and e-learning creation, with the ability to translate complex subjects into clear and engaging learning content is a must.
  • Strong visual design, project management, and cross-functional collaboration skills are essential, along with excellent time management, organization, and communication abilities.
  • High attention to detail, a client service mindset, and the ability to work independently or collaboratively are key.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and tools such as PowerPoint, Canva, Articulate 360, Adobe Creative Suite, and/or Camtasia is required, as well as a willingness to adopt new instructional design technologies.
  • Proven success designing and delivering digital and blended learning programs to drive engagement and meet diverse learner needs is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Applies instructional design methodologies and best practices to develop training materials including courses, checklists, presentations, videos, and job aids.
  • Partners with stakeholders, subject matter experts, and the Learning & Development team to identify training needs, gather requirements, and create effective learning content.
  • Conducts needs assessments and identify performance gaps in collaboration with the Learning & Development team.
  • Collaborates with the Marketing Department to design and develop graphics, infographics and other visuals for use in presentations and training.
  • Stays current with industry trends, learning technologies, and instructional design innovations.
  • Maintains course content and curriculum documentation to ensure accuracy and relevance.
  • Supports the Learning & Development team with reporting and other program administrative tasks.
  • Completes special projects and support various initiatives as needed.
