About The Position

OUR UNIVERSITY Ottawa University (established in 1865), one of the oldest private liberal arts universities in the United States, is a multi-campus system serving approximately 4000 students through its campuses in Kansas (Ottawa, Kansas- Residential Campus and Overland Park, Kansas- Adult Programs); Arizona (Surprise Residential Campus and OUAZ Adult Programs); Wisconsin (Brookfield Adult Programs); and our OU ONLINE PROGRAM based out of Overland Park, Kansas. Ottawa University is a regionally accredited, church-related, private university that strives to integrate faith, learning, and life in the academic experiences of students. JOB SUMMARY In collaboration with the Associate Dean of Instructional Innovation and staff instructional designers, complete revisions to fully online courses on an as-needed basis. Collaborate with university-designated subject matter experts to make updates to online courses according to established policies, standards, and timelines. Said revisions will be of varying complexity and will have a variety of deadlines. Each revision project will be outlined separately. Said outline will include the scope and the completion deadline. Work is to be completed independently and remotely. Regular communication with the Associate Dean with project progress updates is required.

Requirements

  • Earned Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Educational Media, Instructional Systems Design, or related field.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in online course development, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Evidence of solid grounding in instructional design theory and implementation in a distance learning environment.
  • Demonstrated experience integrating technology into the teaching/learning process
  • Experience designing and producing web-based course materials.
  • Excellent written and oral expression and very detail oriented
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies as related to teaching and learning at a distance.
  • Evidence of excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team and establish collegial relationships with faculty and staff.
  • Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication; excellent organizational skills
  • Demonstrated awareness of usability, accessibility, and inclusivity considerations in instructional design.
  • Demonstrated success in working in a collaborative, partnership model with faculty and subject matter experts in a higher education environment
  • Experience working as a member of a geographically dispersed team
  • Evidence of self-motivation and ability to establish priorities appropriately.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with university-designated subject matter experts in the updating of online courses according to established policies, standards, and timelines.
  • Support faculty in editing and modifying existing online courses in the Blackboard Ultra system of Ottawa University.
  • Communicate Ottawa University course design standards and policies to Subject Matter Experts.
  • Other duties as assigned
