About The Position

We are seeking an Instructional Designer/Learning Developer to join our Federal Learning Design team and support Oracle Health’s largest federal client, the Department of Veterans Affairs. In this role, you will apply instructional design best practices to create and maintain engaging computer-based and instructor-led training materials that support successful adoption of Oracle Health solutions. As part of the Consulting organization, you will work closely with VA stakeholders, Oracle teams, and third-party vendors to understand learning needs, manage expectations, and deliver high-quality training assets on time. This role plays an important part in helping ensure a well-integrated solution that meets the client’s needs and supports a positive end-user experience.

Requirements

  • Experience using Oracle Health Millennium Platform, formerly known as Cerner Millennium solutions.
  • 6+ years total combined related work experience and completed higher education, including:
  • At least 1-year learning/adult education work experience, including instructional design, training facilitation and/or learning consultation.
  • At least 5 years additional work experience directly related to the duties of the job and/or completed higher education, including:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Communications, Education, Health Care, Instructional Design, Marketing, or related field, or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Experience as an Instructional Developer in a similar role, preferably in the context of healthcare and federal contracts.
  • Experience working with subject matter experts to identify learning outcomes and write objectives.
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning principles.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • Problem solving and conflict resolution abilities.
  • US Citizenship Required

Nice To Haves

  • Specific knowledge in Acute and Ambulatory Nursing HIGHLY preferred.
  • Experience working in Agile Scrum teams.
  • Experience creating computer-based training content using Adobe Captivate.
  • Experience with accessibility standards and guidelines, including Section 508 and WCAG 2.0 to ensure all learning content is inclusive and accessible to all users.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to identify learning needs and write objectives.
  • Analyze course materials across training programs to ensure learning levels cascade appropriately.
  • Design and develop instructional materials, including course outlines, lesson plans, and multimedia content.
  • Create engaging eLearning modules, videos, simulations and other educational tools.
  • Identify course learning outcomes and write learning objectives.
  • Apply instructional design models (ADDIE) to create effective learning experiences.
  • Design assessments and evaluations to measure learning outcomes.
  • Ensuring content is accessible, learning-centered, and aligned with learning objectives.
  • Utilize authoring tool (e.g. Articulate, Captivate) and learning management systems to deploy content.
  • Staying current with emerging technologies and incorporating them into instructional design.
  • Translate complex information into concise user-friendly content by writing clear instructions and explanation, while tailoring language and style to meet the needs of different learners.
  • Structure content logically with consistent use of terminology, adhering to established style guides and templates, while ensuring smooth flow of information from basic to advanced topics.
  • Review and revise content for accuracy, readability and grammatical correctness.
  • Collaborate as a Learning Developer on an AGILE Scrum team.
  • Contribute to story point estimation and sprint planning meetings.
  • Lead small groups and projects. Coordinate multiple projects at once.
  • Utilize critical thinking skills and independent judgment to resolve complex learning design and technical issues.
  • Maintain open and clear communication channels with stakeholders, ensuring alignment between the team’s work and project objectives.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to team members on instructional design best practices.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
