About The Position

The Instructional Designer II works with faculty and other content experts to create robust and interactive online courses for moderately complex credit and non-credit courses using sound online pedagogy under minimal supervision. Works one-on-one with faculty member to identify course learning objectives, teaching methodologies, assessment tools, and other parameters necessary for development of basic courses. May provide minimal mentorship to lower-level Instructional Designers on technical aspects of course development and implementation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of instructional design, interactive technology, or technical support experience; OR master’s degree and some instructional design, interactive technology, or technical support experience.
• Must clear the fingerprint/background check required by the Alabama State Department of Education for work with the ACCESS Virtual Learning Initiative.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to understand, implement, and train others in web/new media content preparation, presentation and production.
• Ability to implement instructional technology tools for online content preparation, presentation and production.
• Ability to work with clientele and translate their instructional technology needs.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in virtual learning technology in higher education or K-12 environments with knowledge of learning management system Schoology.
• Experience in teaching, training, multimedia authoring, curriculum development, website development, or IT experience.
