About The Position

This position will support OSF College of Nursing in Rockford, IL. The Instructional Design and Technologies Specialist coordinates educational technology services, training, and support for the College. They promote the integration of educational technology into the curriculum through workshops and training, and assist with simulated learning. This role coordinates with the OSF Information Systems Services Department (ISS) for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and repair of hardware and software used by faculty, staff, and students. The specialist collaborates with ISS and other appropriate departments to ensure network security, LAN, and EPIC accounts. They troubleshoot software and hardware problems for students, staff, and faculty. This position serves as an administrator and resource/support for the learning management system, student information system, and other software used at the College. The role monitors the College's compliance with software licensure and coordinates and maintains the College website in conjunction with College Administration and other support and academic staff members. The specialist also serves as a facilitator/manager for technology projects as assigned by the President.

Requirements

  • Masters of Science in educational technology or related field.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in providing educational technology support and/or instructional design.
  • Knowledge of web design, multimedia applications, educational software, and emerging technologies used for teaching and support services.
  • Strong project management, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge and skills using the current Microsoft Office software, internet, e mail, setting up and using web pages, and willingness to learn learning management and student information software used by the College.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills for interacting effectively with students, peers, and others to provide an environment conducive to student learning.
  • Strong analytical skills necessary to determine the feasibility of using new/emerging educational technology for the College of Nursing and troubleshooting computer problems.
  • Must be able to identify learning needs, and develop education programs based on those needs.
  • Experience with Access or Crystal Reports and SQL queries to understand use of databases.
