About The Position

The Instructional Coach provides support for the entire school staff in the areas of curriculum, professional development, instructional teaching support, implementation of TBTs, and assessment leadership in reading, mathematics, and other duties as assigned by administration. This role focuses on enhancing teaching practices and improving student achievement through collaborative support and data-driven decision-making.

Requirements

  • Possess appropriate license or certificate in designated area(s): K-12, 4-9, 7-12.
  • A minimum of three years of teaching experience.
  • Primary job responsibilities in the area of teacher coaching, team leader, and mentoring for three of the last five years.
  • Strong skills in pedagogy, content, and instructional delivery.
  • Ability to make content understandable, rigorous, and relevant.
  • Ability to motivate and engage students and staff.
  • Quality interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Effective leadership, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • 5 years of successful teaching experience in schools or experience working with urban youth.
  • Bachelor’s degree.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience coaching teachers preferred.
  • Experience working with BLT, TBT, or Professional Learning Community.
  • An advanced degree strongly preferred.
  • Previous School leadership experience was preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work independently and make effective decisions.
  • Deep concern for fostering constructive adolescent behavior, especially in support of academic achievement.

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of differentiation, instruction, and assessment.
  • Model instructional planning and delivery of instruction that align with district initiatives, Standards, and ACPA Curriculum.
  • Provide Instructional Teacher Support.
  • Support classroom management strategies.
  • Support teachers in implementing or practicing new instructional strategies by co-teaching and/or facilitating reflective dialogue.
  • Provide opportunities for teacher/classroom observations of other staff members that are non-evaluative and engage teachers in reflective dialogue in pre- and post-observation meetings.
  • Integrate technology within curriculum and professional development.
  • Provide positive leadership to assist and provide support for teachers and principals to implement district and building goals and increase student achievement.
  • Assist in the area of formative assessments and analyzing and interpreting data.
  • Build teacher capacity to utilize data to make informed decisions.
  • Participate with the Building Level Team and participate in the development and implementation of the school One Plan.
  • Conduct workshops/trainings for staff and facilitate alignment of staff professional development.
  • Meet with building administration on a weekly basis ensuring that Academic Interventionist goals/activities are aligned with school Mission/Vision.
  • Participate in appropriate grade level/department team/TBT meetings.
  • Meet with the school administration and leadership team on a regular basis to examine school data and assist in school-wide planning (including professional development).
  • Attend assigned professional development opportunities and meetings.
  • Network with other school specialists and district personnel and other staff.
  • Ensure alignment with ACPA’s educational philosophy and core values.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
